Shirts using our kyo-katagami patterns are now available from the Beams Plus brand.
The two patterns are “Suimon” and “Ho-tsume”.
These patterns seem to have been made at the end of the Edo period.
Now let us introduce the original katagami.
First is the “Suimon” pattern.
We could not find the information you were looking for. The pattern “Suimon” is a design of ripples on the surface of the water.
Next is “Ho-tsume”.
“Ho-tsume” is a pattern that represents the front view of old sailboats.
It feels very modern.

The renewal of our website has finally finished.
We’d like to introduce new information, which we could not inform you about before.
Eight of our kyo-katagami were featured in the January 2020 issue of “Monthly A WORLD OF WONDERS” -Happy and Fun Edo Patterns- by Kumagai Hiroto (illustrations and text) published by Fukuinkan.
The author, Mr. Kumagai Hiroto, is a book designer.
He collects and researches “wasarasa(Japanese chintz) and katagami(Japanese pattern papers) and also gives lectures on them.
I met him for the first time when I was invited as a panelist at the KATAGAMI Style exhibition commemorative symposium held at the Mie Prefectural Art Museum in the fall of 2012.
As you feel from this picture book, he has a warm personality.

第一回目のｱｯﾌﾟは10枚 早春に因んだ柄を選びました。それぞれ適当に名前をつけましたので、もし「こんなん違うやろ」というご意見がありましたら、どうぞご教授下さいませ。
付け足しをいくつか
二番目の蕨割付松柄の外側には朱角印で南埼玉 須賀村 紺善 の判があります。
三番目の蕨柄 ∧ヶ 渡邊 の朱角印が入っています。
四番目の柄は 桜のなかに烏帽子・刀・藁草履・傘・拍子木・桶・茶釜 等など何かの物語を表現していると思うのですが...
七番目の梅1の柄には 釜忠 の墨書が入っています。
十番目の石蕗ヨロケ縞には 日野屋喜八と墨書があります。
